Last week I had a kind of evaluation visit to a tennis center where my student is a chief coach, and we have found that students as young as 12 and 14 hit very hard''HARD'' serves and often miss it too, and then they change the stance, toss and modifify serve swing, and end in a weak second serve, This is a concept error, AT THIS STAGE OF LIFE, thay fail to realize the IMPORTANCE OF EFFECTIVE SERVICE, IS THE ONE HIT TO THE OPPONENTS WEAKNESS.These kids never realize that perpectual hard hitting can land them is shoulder injuries,as well as the bio-mechnical difference the first and second serves increases the probability of delivering poor/ineffective serves.
HOW TO FIX IT. 1,Students should be taught all types of services,FLAT,SLICE,TOP SPIN. with equal importance and duration.
2,Use appropriate MULTIPLE TYPE OF THROWING EXERCISES to reduce the throwing impact on any particular joint./group of muscles.
3,Should be taught how to PROGRESSIVELY increase and reach the peak at the point of impact during serve.
4,Enhance the stability of support from the toss to point contact.
THESE ARE PRETTY IMPORTANT, OR A PLAYER MAY RETIRE PREMATURE,
