INDIAN TENNIS -SINGLES PLAY STRATEGY

A PROUD TIME FOR INDIAN TENNIS:See in a major event like US open we have have half a dozen players enduring/sustaining to the second week of play, mostly in doubles, The happy news is that the playing skills of this players are as good as any top players in the world, one may have to realize and understand the reasons, why these players are not doing well in singles.I feel/think that the first reason may be the aspect of exposure to futures and challengers tournaments at the appropriate stages of tournament participation.I think the corporate bodies can adopt players for the tour expenses.
The second and the foremost reason is that these players lack in on court movement skills to cover the entire court in singles play,This can be overcome by using suitable track and field coaching know how with appropriate modifications.DO YOU AGREE?

  2. Track and Field and Tennis are two different events. T&F is only based on the movement in a particular direction where are tennis you have many and the movement is Lateral. Majority of the players/parents make a mistake assuming that T&F coaches are the best for movements, which is totally a misconception. In fact I wasted two good years of my career training under a good SAI T&F Coach assuming that my movements will get better. If T&F Coach could make better tennis players then every top tennis players would be having a T&F Coach employed in their team.
Tennis is entirely a different sport and has no comparison to T&F in related to movements. Only a Tennis Player who has played atleast to a certain level will understand what exactly a player require. End of the day, a player needs to have a good, Lateral Speed, strength, power, muscular endurance, balance, coordination, reaction and most importantly anticipation. Remember 90 %of tennis movements are anticipation. Doesn't matter how good you are, end of the day if you do not have good anticipation skills it not worth it.

  3. Thanks for the comments, very much perfectly correct, and well said.Lateral speed is the Bio-mechanical by product of linear velocity-So it cannot be a mistake to develop the linear speed[reaction speed+speed of movement+speed endurance]initially for a certain period and then go on for the specific need based training.-We can discuss more on this topic --
