OFF SEASON TRAINING
OFF SEASON TRAINING: We are biological organisms with a persistent need for activity and exercises of some kind like jogging, running, swimming, cycling etc.The motor qualities like strength, speed, endurance flexibility are the by products of demanding, deliberate and vigorous physical activities.A sedentary man who avoids any type of physical activities/exercise may lead to muscular atrophy and degeneration of muscles. To avoid this happening in an athletes'body, off season training is advised. It is a system of training/combination of games/exercises one may have to do while not in active competition.Depending upon the bio-mechanical/physiological need and motor requirements which are required for his/ her main event one may have to choose appropriate set of activities.A middle distance runner may take to jogging,A weight lifter /jumper/throwers may play some basket ball, hand ball. Sprinters may take up quick reaction games like badminton etc. Off season work out's duration, intensity may vary according to the need and nature of the individual's main game/sport.A tennis player may take up a combination of games like table tennis, badminton, squash, volleyball, swimming etc to keep him fit and active.

STROKE ENDURANCE Vs SHOT VELOCITY:This factor should be carefully considered during the early stages of mastering tennis.Often coaches get paid more by the ambitious parents to make their kids to produce a shot with a bang. What is required is that an optimum mix of stroke endurance and shot velocity. An individuals' capacity to master this skill may vary vastly, which depends on their ability to maintain their focus consistently while the ball in play.
COACHING POINT TO NOTE:-Devote more time for continuous[optimum speed]rallies to the point of exhaustion involving skill equated partners.

A GIFTED ATHLETE-BEHAVIOR INPUT
A GIFTED ATHLETE- BEHAVIOR RELATED INPUT:Gifted athletes who are nimble footed, restless with abundance of energy and enthusiasm should always like to have the limelight and lions'share of responsibility. It should be the concern of the coach to see the most gifted and the average club level players are taken care of appropriately in the training ,media coverage, sponsorship and other endorsements.Often coach may have to devise a program for the medium club level player, so that his/ her spirits are held high and optimum level of contribution is rendered by every one for the betterment of the game and the process.BY:Prince --humanperformanceexcellence.blogsp ot.in

TOSS ACCURACY AND TENNIS SERVICE
CAN ADULTS LEARN TENNIS SERVICE FASTER BY MASTERING THE VERTICAL TOSS ?
YES-It was empirically found that adult men tennis learners[20-25 yrs] improved their service consistency to deuce and ad courts alternatively in a time bound continuous service testing [10 min] with a two equated group pre - post test experimental research[t-2.80.,p<.05] for experimental and control remained the same.
COACHING POINT:- Train the toss in the same vertical path with the same sequence routine.

MICRO-STEPPING AND ON COURT SPEED IN TENNIS
Can specific series of micro-stepping exercises increase on
court speed in tennis players?
Yes—It can. It was observed with two un equated groups with pre- post test
design involving tiny steps of progression[3to4inches]with toe, ball of the
foot at forward, sideward, backward progressions and ball-heel-ball-toe, heel-ball-
toe with only forward progressions and inter-spread with striding for 30 meters
proved to be beneficial in improving the on court speed of tennis players.
Speed on court was tested by using modified line running test.
