TRAINING LOAD ''SPECIFICITY '' TO THE TASK,

                              Every sports training interventions,more so the tennis training should specify the task taken for the training season/month /week /day/session. This is important to maintain the balence between the inner load and the outer load,THE INNER LOAD is the changes, which happens, in the form of adaptation/supercompensation to the athlete[tennis player] due the TRAINING OUTER LOAD in the form of exercises,lifting weights,using training gadgets[balencing balls ,wheel mounted platforms etc. If the outer load is not specific to the task undertaken for training IN THE ASPECT OF DURATION, ,INTENSITY,SPECIFICITY,to the neuro muscular/biomechanical  properties of the task/game skill,say FORE HAND,BACK HAND strokes it may not only do any good/improvement in skill level but also end up in INJURY PRONENESS to the tennis player.

EARLY SIGNS OF A PREDICTABLE LOSS IN A CLOSE MATCH

''AMORTIZATION'  This is a transition phase in our normal gait progression. We alternate swinging and supporting phases during our walk and run sequence. If a player is quick and swift in this phase of transition he will move around the court with ease and swift movements.while during a tough  match in progress, the on set of fatigue will make him sluggish and the ''amortization'' phase will be very much visible and knee mey go a little bit hyper extended during this phase. This is a clear indication of loss in movement efficiency,and while the players' are more or less EQUAL in all the other compatments of the game skills we can assess the situation and predict the match out come. SO COACHES NEXT TIME BE QUICK TO WATCH THE PLAYERS' AMORTIZATION EFFICIENCY.and take appropriate steps.

SERVICE RETURN TRAINING

SERVICE RETURN TRAINING: This capasity is very well ''a trainable''  factor.But, one may have to be diligent and systematic in dealing the process.I would sum it up as a quality''GRASPING THE OPTIC-COGNITIVE CHAIN OF SEQUENCE'' of the server. The recever may have to get it''GRASP'' automated over a period of time.
1. Service return stroke may not always fulfill the bio-.mechanical requirement of a perfect stroke.
2. Service return skills depends on the individuals' capasity to maintain continuous visual contact with the ball and the body language connected with the serve sequence.
3.There may not be aback swing in service return strokes.
4.Service return training may have to start along with early stage ground stroke training [often this is
not the case with many coaches/academies.]
5.Mastery over Table tennis strokes may help to master service return skills.
6.Early stage SR training may start with hand feeding to pre-marked spots,single/double,with pre-mentioned sequence /with out sequence and random spots-with a distance from the net,inbetween net and serve line,from the service line,inbetween serve and base line,step by step,using racket with shot/medium/full back swings, with gradually increased progressive velocities.This course of PROGRESSION TO SKILL MASTERY '' may take a few weeks to attain ''PERFECT MASTERY WITH AUTOMATED SKILLS''Any questions please?

''HEIGHT'' IS THIS A PRIME FACTOR FOR HIGHER RANKING?

HEIGHT:-THE PRIME FACTOR ASSOCIATED WITH HIGHER RANKING IN TENNIS? NO

         Height is advantageous to hit high velocity first services,remaining other parameters like, on court speed,aglity,tennis specific factors like ''ACCURACY WITH CONSISTENCY COUPLED WITH ON COURT ENDURANCE'' remains ''CONSTANTS'', The apparent benefits of height, beyond 180 cms is just a'' mythical factor'' which can be nullified with ''SMART SERVICE RETURN SKILLS''
       Often, not only coaches, parents, the entire tennis fraternity celebrate/give undue importance to height   as a ''HUGE FACTOR''in a growing player at the early stages of tennis training and ''miss out'' a highly talented medium/short statured player by depriving him/her proper exposure to appropriate coaching.

HIDDEN CAUSES LEADING TO PERFORMANCE DECLINE-HOW TO FIX IT

ISOLATED EXERCISES AND EQUIPMENTS FOR SPORTS SKILL DEVELOPMENT;-

       Often coaches,parents,players finds it easy and attractive to carry and perform certain sports specific movements[ For example-Forehand in Tennis] using stretchable materials and ends in a decline in over all performance due to following reasons.
1. They do more than the required number of repetitions.
2.Certain out comes of these exercises, like improved explosive strength,range of movement may interfere with the ''skill specific accuracy''
3.Exercises isolated to a muscle/group/region[upper body/lowerbody] may interfere with the kinetic chain of movements.
4.May lead to lopsided development in their body as well as neuro-muscular movement pathways and performance gets affected in the long run.

HOW TO FIX IT

1.These type of exercises should be performed with a sequence/pattern maintaining ceplo-caudal,proximo-distal  aspects taken care of diligently.
2.Atleast 50% of these type of exercise duration should be utilised for whole body movements using the body weight as resistance.
3.Each session of exercises should be concluded with stabilising ''wrap it up'' exercises.

                 Inventions ,hi-tech appliances have ultimately changed the demands on the neuro-physiological/musculo-skeletal demands on the human body. Sports training sciences explains the finer points of training overloading, specificity, but the factor of reversibility[rest/recovery] and its impact on the human system is not well explained to the level of applications to day to day life.
                We travel in a road with a vehicle with hi-speed, giving a gliding effect, and move up to our office floor with a hi-speed elevators, escalators, and so many other appliances in our day today life. Physical exertion is almost nil in our day to day life, on the other side stress remains the same or raises, due to increased competition for better positions in life. Exercise has become away of life in societies, communities with appropriate knowhow of how to do /what to do/and how much to do. There is a lot product marketing in this area of business also.
             By careful planning of our home, workplace, mode of conveyance/transport, we can do a lot good to our health and maintain our fitness to an optimum level with out much exertion and expenses. This situation may lead to emergence of new disciplines, and knowledge sub- domains, in the field of building architecture, interior decoration, vehicle /furniture design and manufacturing.
